It’s classy, sexy, and neutral, making it the perfect base for both men and women to build on. Sometimes, this theme can be intimidating to those who don’t wear lingerie. In this instance, we suggest going for silky robes, boxers, classy pajama sets, harnesses, and suit-like pieces such as a good button-down shirt with a tie. It’s also a very elegant theme without being too stuffy. When you get invited to a Gatsby or Prohibition-themed party, you’re being called to bust out the 1920s gear. Think tasseled dresses, jeweled headpieces, long-stringed pearl necklaces, feather boas, fedora hats, suspenders, suit jackets, and cigarette holders. We had a lot of fun with this one at Naughty N’awlins 2023. There’s just something so sexy about pirates. And this theme allows the guys to go all out, too! You can be super exaggerated like Captain Hook, with a full-on jacket, ruffles, and a hat, or you can be a renegade pirate with loose-tattered pieces and a patch covering your eye. With a few simple accessories like a hat, eye patch, corset, or large scarves/pieces of material to make into bandanas or cummerbunds, you can turn a simple white button-down (again, already in your collection) or a white loose-fitting dress and turn yourself into a pirate. Use your largest gold hoop earrings and random necklaces for that “found treasure” feel. And since pirates were always on the move and ready for battle, comfortable shoes like boots can complete the look. Be sure to check with the rules of the event or place where you’ll be to see if they have rules against fake weapons before you purchase a sword or anything like that.
