Safety at Naughty
Safety and security are among our highest priorities at all of our Naughty Events. We wanted to make sure everyone knew what we do to help ensure their safety.
Police, Paramedics, and EMTs
At Naughty N’awlins, we always have a Sheriff or a Police officer at the entrance to our hotel all day and night to ensure someone with authority is available in case they are needed. Luckily, that is a rare case, but you never know when an officer is needed, and we always want to have one available just in case.
We also hire police officers to be in place along the corridors to each hotel. We will have a police officer each evening (for 8 hours, from 8 pm till 4 am) between the Astor Hotel and the Saint Hotel, plus another four police officers between the Astor and the NOPSI Hotels. If you see a police officer walking to and from either of these hotels, stop and say “Hello” while you are at it, and thank them for working for us and helping keep our attendees safe. These police officers volunteer for these shifts; we pay them, but they do not have to work these shifts; they volunteer.
This year, we are hiring EMTs to work in the hotel as part of our harm reduction campaign. In an emergency, the fire department or an ambulance usually only takes a maximum of 5 minutes to arrive, but we decided to have a dedicated Paramedic and EMT on site. Feel free to thank them for being on site and for doing a difficult job.
Shuttle Buses
This year, we are adding an additional shuttle bus during the night and adding a shuttle during the daytime as well to make it easier (and safer) to get to and from the different hotels. It is less than two blocks between the Astor and the Saint hotels, and only three blocks between the Astor and the NOPSI Hotel, but why walk it in high heels if you don’t have to? Just walk outside your hotel and look for the shuttle buses with the Naughty N’awlins logo in the window. If there is not one already there, there should be one very soon, as they keep moving all day/night.
Tip: We pay our drivers well, but tips are greatly appreciated.
Condoms
We provide condoms on the playfloor. We strongly encourage everyone to use condoms when having sex, unless you are playing with your partner and you feel comfortable with unprotected sex with them. We are not the condom police; it is up to you to be responsible and protect yourself, but condom use is expected in all play areas. Our condoms may not be your preferred brand, so feel free to supply your own as well.
Testing
We also highly encourage you to get tested regularly and know your status. We support testing sites like Shameless Care and STD Hero, which do in-home testing, so you can know before you go to events like Naughty N’awlins. Some people test frequently and will play with others who also test regularly and can share their statuses. Just remember that testing is only accurate on the day the test was taken. Anyone can contract something after the test date, so we encourage you to test regularly and use protection to ensure you are playing as safely as possible.
Be Aware
The best way to help us continue a safe environment is to be aware of your surroundings and other attendees. If you see someone who has had too much to drink, ask them if you can help them back to their room. If they won’t go, please come up to one of our staff members (usually in a purple Naughty Krewe shirt) and point them out discreetly, and we will try to get them safely to their room.
The more we take care of each other, the safer all lifestyle events will be. Watch out for each other and make sure you and your partner do not drink too much. If you do, go take a break; you can always party later on.
Nothing good happens on Bourbon Street after midnight
We get it; Bourbon Street is a lot of fun and is part of the reason Naughty N’awlins is so popular. Our private Bourbon Street parties are a blast, and you can really let loose when you know it is a private event during the day, but things change after midnight. Pickpockets come out, and you can get into trouble, especially late at night and early in the morning.
That’s why we have parties going until 4 am. We want to give you amazing events that are safe, without having to venture out onto Bourbon Street.
We strive to give you an incredible experience while providing a safe atmosphere. So come ready to party, but keep our advice in mind, and you will have a great time.
